A weekend getaway farmhouse,15 km from Hyderabad city with sustainability as the key concept.
The Site is a 2000 sq yards plot in a township with roads flanking the north and south sides.
The prerequisites of the client specify a spacious living environment with 3 bedrooms. The priority was to design and build an eco-friendly house with a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
Proposal at a Glance
The view of the site from the road instantly directs one's attention to the dramatically sloped roof and the Rammed earth walls. This Mangalore tiled pitched roof resting on the rammed earth wall creates intrigue regarding the spaces behind its façade.
As one enters the house a small foyer leads into a vast open space having the living and dining areas with ample natural light. Outdoor spaces such as the semi-open decks, gardens and ponds are connected to this area, which creates a spacious appeal.

The kitchen and dining open out into the backyard through a deck with outdoor activities such as a barbeque, swimming pool and play area all around marking a private zone. This private backyard is screened by rammed earth walls from both roads providing a sense of enclosure and privacy. A large terrace towards the east is designed on the first floor looking into the backyard, so as to cater to the visual connection and also capture the early morning sun.
